Artist's Statement:

"Painting has taught me to see. When I began to paint, after years as a graphic designer and illustrator, I fretted endlessly about what to paint. I sought the beautiful or the quaint, or the spectacular. Until, over a period of time, I began to see. Then came the revelation that has come to countless painters before. The true, glorious subject, is light itself. Choose any ordinary thing, and if the light is falling just right, it can be quite extraordinary. Paintings are everywhere! An ordinary stand of pine trees, casting the long deep shadows of a summer twilight, can be astonishingly beautiful. The limitations of paint and talent in capturing that beauty may ultimately defeat you, but the joy is in the quest. And in truly seeing."
