Charles Iarrobino
"Floating World", 40"x 30", Oil on Linen , $5500
Of his work Iarrobino states:
If there's anything along the lines of a sense of responsibility coming through me, it's my desire to inspire in the viewer a reverence for the innate truth of each and every element in the work.
My aim is to keep the masses forms on the simple side. There is a potential strength in such simplicity. In punctuating these masses with more developed areas, my intention is to refine the composition without becoming prosaic. Someone...Einstein or Matisse, probably...declared that things "should be as simple as possible, but no simpler." It's one of those statements which is at once elegant enough to be intellectually compelling and enigmatic enough to provoke a kick in the shins. Remember, I did not say it, but I do try to hear it. In the spirit, it is time to admit that it is (nearly) all about light. Regardless of whatever scene I have depicted, light was the source and light was (to varying degrees) the subject.
